Board of Directors Meeting Minutes
July 24, 2021
The meeting was called to order by president, Scott Woogen at 6:00 p.m.
ROLL CALL: Those present by phone were: Scott Woogen, Betsy Brown, Anne McDonald, Wilma Foley, Tyler Shehan, Jan Nofsinger, Charles Robbins, Mike Pearson and Debbie Warnick. A quorum was declared.
OLD BUSINESS:
Item 1. Spotsylvania Track Update
Scott Woogen gave an update on the progress of a possible track in Spotsylvania. One issue with this possibility is the exclusivity clause with Colonial. The Spotsylvania lawyers do not feel that this will be a problem. If they want to have a racino, there will have to be a referendum presented to the public to be voted on.
Item 2. Colonial Downs Track Update
Colonial Downs has presented plans to build a 5/8 mile track on the inside of the turf course. There are still several issues to work out with crossing the dirt and turf track but Colonial feels that these issues can be solved.
In return for building the track, Colonial wants an exclusivity clause and wants to make changes to the current Revenue Sharing Agreement. After much discussion, Betsy made a motion and Charlie seconded it that we accept the 5/8 track with racing next fall but to not make any other concessions to Colonial. Motion passed unanimously.
As there was no further business to be discussed, Scott Woogen adjourned the meeting at
6:15 p.m.
