Board of Directors Meeting Minutes
August 8, 2021
The meeting was called to order by president, Scott Woogen at 6:10 p.m.
ROLL CALL: Those present by phone were: Scott Woogen, Betsy Brown, Anne McDonald, Wilma Foley, Tyler Shehan, Jan Nofsinger, Charles Robbins, Stacey McLenghan, Randy Jackson and Debbie Warnick. A quorum was declared.
OLD BUSINESS:
Item 1. Spotsylvania Track Update
Scott Woogen explained that the prospect of a track in Spotsylvania looks good. It is moving forward but it is a slow process.
Item 2. Colonial Downs Track Update
Colonial Downs has presented a proposed agreement to build the 5/8 track and have a race meet there in the fall of 2022. However, they are again stating that they want a two year race agreement but a ten year exclusivity agreement as well as changes to the revenue sharing agreement.
There was a lot of discussion about Colonial’s proposal. It was agreed that we should not give anything back to them because building the track is to their benefit as much as it is to ours as they will not be able to have the 5,000 machines without more race days.
Charlie made a motion and Anne seconded it that we offer Colonial the two year exclusivity deal that remains as part of the original revenue sharing agreement. We would also offer a ten year racing agreement. No changes to the revenue sharing agreement will be approved. The motion passed unanimously.
As there was no further business to be discussed, Scott Woogen adjourned the meeting at
6:35 p.m.
