2020 RACE MEET

We are thrilled to be able to announce that the 2020 race meet at Shenanadoah Downs is proceeding as scheduled. We will begin racing September 18th and race Fridays and Saturdays through October 17th. Due to financial assistance from the VEA, we will be able to have purses close to those we had last year. That’s something that most tracks have not been able to do. Racing applications and track rules are available on our website at www.VHHA.net or contact Debbie Warnick at 443-463-0917 if you need copies mailed to you.

The Breeders’ Fund eliminations for three year olds will be held on September 19th. Two year old eliminations will be held on September 26th. The finals for the Breeders Fund will be October 3rd.

Due to the ongoing Covid 19 situation and the uncertainty of how much, if any, spectator attendance will be allowed, we have made the decision to eliminate betting for this year’s meet. This change means that the VRC will not be overseeing the meet. We will now come directly under the supervision of the USTA and will be classified as an extended meet. This change will not alter any of our procedures, rules or requirements, other than a VRC license will not be required.

DIRECT DEPOSIT

I know many of you will be glad to hear that all purse checks will be made by direct deposit this year. All horsemen will be required to complete forms and submit them to the bookkeeper before any checks will be deposited. These forms will be available on the website or by contacting Debbie.

HOTEL DISCOUNT

The Comfort Inn will be offering a discount for horsemen again this year. Contact Debbie for the information on how to take advantage of this. Remember to make your reservations early as the hotel fills up fast.

2020 SHENANDOAH COUNTY FAIR

At this time, the Shenandoah County fair is still scheduled to run harness races on September 2nd through September 5th. The post time for these races will change to 5:00 pm. We anticipate being able to offer purses that match the purses of last year. Check our Facebook page or website for further information on the fair as it develops.

ASSOCIATION MEETING

Our annual association meeting will be held at the race meet on September 25th after the races in the Lilly barn. There will be three board member seats open for election this year. If you are interested in having your name on the ballot, please contact Debbie. Voting can be done in person or by mail in ballot.

MEMBERSHIP DUES

You must have a current membership in the VHHA to be able to vote at the annual meeting. Our dues are still only $30.00. Membership forms are available on our website or by contacting Debbie. We hope that everyone will continue to support the VHHA.
