Board of Directors Meeting Minutes
November 1, 2021
The meeting was called to order by vice president, Charlie Robbins at 6:10 p.m.
ROLL CALL: Those present by phone were: Betsy Brown, Anne McDonald, Tyler Shehan, Charles Robbins, Billy Carter, Stacey McLenghan, Jan Nofsinger, Scott Warnick, Tracy Bradshaw and Debbie Warnick. A quorum was declared.
MEETING MINUTES: The minutes from meeting held on October 26, 2021 were reviewed and approved as written.
OLD BUSINESS:
Item 1. Sire Stakes program
Debbie presented the Breeding Committee’s October 28th proposal for the Sired Stakes program. It is as follows:
Paid in fee schedule will be $25 as a foal and $100 each in March, May and starting fee as a two year old and three year old.
Bonus payments for foals that meet qualifying times & dates as outlined in the Sired Stakes rules will be: Stallion Owner- $1,500; Breeder- $1,500 and if the mare and foal remain in Virginia for the entire foaling year $1,500 will be paid to the person who owned the mare during that time. These bonuses will be paid one time only either as a two ear old or three year old.
Races will be run based on age, sex and gait as two year olds and three year olds, regardless of how many horses qualify. Eliminations will be estimated $6,000 purse and finals will be estimated $60,000 purse.
After discussing the proposal, Jan moved and Charlie seconded that we accept the proposal as presented. The motion carried unanimously. This program will start with the 2022 breeding season.
Item 2. 2022 Race meet dates
It was moved and seconded that we officially tell the fair board that we will race the 2022 meet starting on Sept 16th and ending November 5th. The motion carried unanimously. This will give us eight weeks of racing. The final number of days will be determined.
As there was no further business to be discussed, Charlie Robbins adjourned the meeting at 7:00 p.m.
